Foreign Capital Flows Rp2.22 Trillion into Indonesia


Jakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) recorded a capital inflow to Indonesia worth Rp2.22 trillion in the third week of June 2023. Based on transaction data compiled by Bank Indonesia (BI) for the period June 19, 2023 to June 22, 2023, non-residents in the domestic financial market bought a net of Rp2.22 trillion.

“Consisting of net purchases of IDR3.26 trillion in the Government Securities market and net sales of IDR1.05 trillion in the stock market,” Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono was quoted as saying on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s 5-year credit default swaps (CDS) premium rose to 84.04 bps as of June 22, 2023 from 81.03 bps as of June 16, 2023.

Thus, during 2023, based on settlement data up to June 22, 2023, non-residents net bought IDR81.97 trillion in the SBN market and net bought IDR14.48 trillion in the stock market.

In addition, BI also reported exchange rate developments from June 19 to June 23, 2023. Noted, the exchange rate as of Thursday (22/6), the rupiah closed at the level (bid) of IDR14,935 per US dollar, and opened at the level (bid) of IDR14,960 per US dollar on Friday (23/6).

Then, the 10-year Government Securities (SBN) yield stabilized at 6.28% on Thursday (22/6) and rose to 6.29% on Friday (23/6).

Meanwhile, the dollar index (DXY) strengthened to 102.39 and the 10-year UST (US Treasury) yield rose to 3.795%. (*)
