2026 MBG Budget Predicted to Reach Rp240 Trillion

Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati estimates that the budget for President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship program, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), will touch Rp240 trillion in 2026.

Sri Mulyani explained that President Prabowo targets MBG recipients in 2026 to reach 82.9 million people, including students, pregnant women, and toddlers. Therefore, the budget amount of Rp240 trillion was prepared by considering the number of beneficiaries.

“If we look at the budget outlook, from Rp71 trillion to Rp116 trillion or even if the whole program may reach Rp240 trillion or in this case it is quite significant in terms of government spending,” Sri Mulyani said in a joint Working Meeting with the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives, quoted on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

The target number of nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPG) in 2026 has not changed from the previous year, namely 30,000 units, with the target beneficiaries remaining at 82.9 million people.

As for the first semester of 2025, the realization of the MBG budget has only reached 7.1 percent of the target in the 2025 State Budget of IDR71 trillion. The number of beneficiaries has only reached 5.58 million people.

“In terms of budget realization, it is IDR 5 trillion or in this case only 7.1 percent of the IDR 71 trillion in our APBN,” she explained.

Sri Mulyani also said that until the sixth month of 2025, there were 1,863 SPPG points operating in various parts of Indonesia. (*)
