Reviewing the Performance Achievements of One Year of Prabowo-Gibran Leadership

Key Points

  • President Prabowo invited the Red and White Cabinet to look back on the first year of government and strengthen their spirit of service.
  • Amid global uncertainty, Indonesia’s economy grew steadily at around 5 percent, with a state budget deficit below 3 percent of GDP and inflation at around 2 percent.
  • The poverty rate fell to 8.47 percent and open unemployment fell to 4.76 percent—the lowest since the 1998 crisis.

Jakarta – President Prabowo invited all officials to look back on the administration’s journey and strengthen their spirit of service to the nation and the people.

Prabowo made the remarks while chairing a plenary cabinet meeting commemorating one year of the Red and White Cabinet’s administration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (10/20).

“We are grateful to be able to hold the Plenary Cabinet Meeting on October 20, 2025, which is exactly one year since I was inaugurated and sworn in at the People’s Consultative Assembly as President of the Republic of Indonesia. Therefore, I think it is appropriate for us to gather to review what we have done this past year,” said Prabowo in his statement, quoted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The former Minister of Defense reminded his staff of the unity and spirit of mutual cooperation that form the foundation of the Red and White Cabinet. He believes that the diversity of the cabinet members’ backgrounds, whether in terms of region, ethnicity, religion, or political party, is a strength in building a solid and inclusive government.

“I am grateful to my brothers and sisters who come from different backgrounds, different regions, different ethnicities and religions, and different political parties. Some are from political parties that fought in our coalition in the general election and presidential election, while others are not,” he said.

With a warm communication style, Prabowo described the cabinet’s work as a soccer team, where each member has their own strategic role to achieve common goals.

“If we are like a soccer team, I can be considered the manager coach, and you are the players. You are in the first half, the beginning, some of you are strikers, some are defenders,” said the President.

On the same occasion, Prabowo “showcased” the positive achievements of the national economy. Indonesia’s economic growth is at 5 percent amid global uncertainty.

“In the midst of conditions like this, where the geopolitical situation is so uncertain, the geo-economy is also uncertain, where the chain of strategic commodities is definitely affected by the uncertain global geopolitical situation. Energy and food are highly vulnerable to this geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainty. Alhamdulillah, we have been able to maintain high economic growth compared to the rest of the world, at 5 percent,” he explained.

Prabowo also highlighted the government’s success in keeping the state budget deficit below 3 percent of GDP, as well as controlling inflation at around 2 percent, which is one of the lowest among G20 countries.

According to him, this achievement is the result of the hard work of the entire government in monitoring and controlling inflation.

“This should not be taken lightly. Many countries have good industries but high inflation. We have succeeded in maintaining stability and market confidence,” he said.

In addition, Prabowo appreciated the achievements of the national capital market, which recorded its highest record in history with the composite stock price index (IHSG) breaking through the 8,000 mark. He said this achievement reflects investor confidence in Indonesia’s strong economic fundamentals.

“The important thing is that our economic fundamentals must be strong, and the most basic economic fundamentals of every nation are food, energy, and water. As long as we are aware of this, we focus on this, we are confident in our policies, we guarantee that we are able to produce and distribute food well, with efficient energy, and we are also able to manage our water resources well,” he said.

Meanwhile, in terms of people’s welfare, Prabowo also said that the national poverty rate had decreased to 8.47 percent, the lowest figure in Indonesia’s history.

Not only that, he explained that the open unemployment rate had also fallen to 4.76 percent, the lowest figure since the 1998 crisis.

“Once again, we must not be complacent because 4.76 percent of 287 million people is a significant number, and for those who urgently need jobs, this is something we must carefully consider. We understand that this unemployment rate is deeply concerning for those who desperately need work, and we understand that, which is why we are working hard,” he concluded. (*)
