Jakarta – Vice Presidential candidate (vice president) number 3, Mahfud MD is rumored to be resigning from his position as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

The news was conveyed directly by Mahfud MD when answering a citizen’s question in Semarang, about his resignation plan at the Tabrak Prof! event.

“At the right time, I will definitely submit my resignation (from the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs) in a good manner,” Mahfud replied as quoted on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

He also emphasized, after the closing of the fourth debate of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres), he expressed his gratitude to President Jokowi for giving him the mandate 4.5 years ago to become the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

“I believe he (Mr. Jokowi) had good intentions for the people when he appointed me as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. And I helped him. And now I am willing to work with Mr. Ganjar to continue my duties, because I think Mr. Ganjar is a presidential candidate who is truly pro-people,” he said.

Mahfud MD also admitted that he had agreed with Ganjar Pranowo about his resignation as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Regardless of Mahfud MD’s intention to resign from the position of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court has a fantastic wealth.
