Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today (2/10) finally inaugurated the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB) ‘Whoosh’ which was built since 2016 at a cost of USD7.2 billion or equivalent to around Rp111.64 trillion (exchange rate: Rp15,506).
“By saying Bismillahirohmanirohim, I declare the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train “Whoosh” to be operated,” President Jokowi said in his speech in Jakarta, October 2, 2023.
In this case, President Jokowi stated that the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train became the first fast train in Indonesia and also in Southeast Asia with a speed of up to 350 km / hour.
“We call this fast train Whoosh, WHOOSH pronounced “wus” is inspired by the sound of this high-speed train and stands for Time Saving Optimal Operation Great System,” Jokowi said.
Jokowi added that the inauguration of the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train marked the modernization of mass transportation in Indonesia which is efficient, environmentally friendly, and integrated with other modes of public transportation.
For information, the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train has previously conducted a free trial to the public in September and has a journey of up to 142 kilometers (km).
The Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train will pass through four stations, including Halim Station, Karawang Station, Padalarang Station, and Tegalluar Station, and will have ticket prices in the price range of Rp250-350 thousand. (*)
