THE GOVERNMENT plans to establish 70,000-80,000 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (KopDes) to manage the supply chain of basic necessities, agricultural products, and medicines in villages. It’s all about business. The first launch is planned for July 12, 2025, coinciding with National Cooperative Day.

The government will provide initial capital for KopDes Merah Putih of around Rp5 billion. The scheme is in the form of a loan that will be channeled by the State Bank Association (Himbara). Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian said the initial capital is the government’s support for the establishment of KopDes Merah Putih in 70,000 villages in Indonesia. According to Tito Karnavian, the government will provide funding support of around Rp5 billion, including from Himbara banks.
